Supposedly they can be white but if you attempt to enter them in a contest they will get rejected. Maine Coon Cats are known for thick fur coats that are extremely long. In order to be counted as "pure bred." whether they are or not, they must have distinct tabby markings that are thicker and look like tiger stripes. A Maine Coon Cat can grow to be huge and an average one can weigh up to 15 pounds at one year of age.

No. Coat colour is rarely dependent on the cat's gender; female and male cats can share nearly every colour and pattern. There is a few exceptions to this, however: The calico coat is only found on females. It is very rare for a male cat to have calico colouring, just as it is uncommon for a female cat to be ginger/red - it is much more common for a male cat to have a red or ginger coat.

While the standard is a mostly white cat with a wide range of colors for points ... It's coat can be tipped by several colors such as black, blue, chocolate, lilac, ... Often, they are confused with the Cornish Rex, LaPerm, and the American Wirehair.
