The Skyline dated back to 1957, and I'm not that nerdy to know every motor from back then, or old enough, but if you are on about the 'big three', the R32, R33 & R34, which I presume you are on about, here is some info. A common mistake people make is saying that all Skylines had straight six motors. This is untrue, as there was a straight four fitted in one of the models, which I will mention later. GTR cars had the RB26DETT, 2.6Ltr, DOHC, EFI, Twin Turbo motor. GTS's could have 2.0Ltr & 2.5Ltr motors. GTS had: RB20E, 2.0Ltr, SOHC, EFI, Non-Turbo. RB20DE, 2.0Ltr, DOHC, EFI, Non-Turbo. RB20DET, 2.0Ltr, DOHC, EFI, Single Turbo. RB25DE, 2.5Ltr, DOHC, EFI, Non-Turbo. RB25DET, 2.5Ltr, DOHC, EFI, Single Turbo. (The RB20E was in the GTS R33, but in the R32, the model which accompanied this engine was called the GTE instead) I categorised 5 different engines under GTS, but they did have different names according to the drive and the engine of the car and spec, etc. For Example: GTS-T = GTS Single Turbo GTS25 = GTS 2.5Ltr Non-Turbo GTS25-T = GTS 2.5Ltr Single Turbo I have read many things on the Internets about differences about the GTR and GTS. One common mistake is that people say that the GTR is 4 Wheel Drive and the GTS is Rear Wheel Drive, but this is untrue, as there were some 4 Wheel Drive GTS cars. The 4 Wheel Drive GTS was called the GTS-4. There were Front Wheel Drive Skyline R32s, and as I mentioned earlier, they were fitted with an inline 4 cylinder. This was called the Nissan Skyline R32 GXi, which had the CA18i motor and front wheel drive. The CA18i motor was fitted in other Nissans, such as Bluebirds, and they only put out 91hp. These are 1.8Ltr engines. As you may have noticed, 'RB'/'SR'/'CA' are the codes to distinguish the engines in a Nissan. The following two numbers represent the engine displacement, e.g, '26' = 2.6Ltr. If the following letter is a 'D', it means the car has a DOHC motor, but if it does not have a 'D', its a SOHC motor. The next letter, if its an 'E', means EFI, but if it is an S, it has carburettors, but then if the letter was a lower case 'i', it means the motor has TBI. If the car has no following letter, it is a Non-Turbo, a 'T' means its a Single Turbo and a 'TT' means it has a Twin Turbo. (Technical Terms, if you got a little confused with any of the acronyms mentioned) SOHC = Single Over Head Cam DOHC = Double Over Head Cam EFI = Electronic Fuel Injection TBI = Throttle Body Injection
