Impossible to do with just the sn.
The model number should be on top of the barrel just ahead of the receiver the manufacture and model should be together.
It is virtually impossible to tell what model by just the serial number.
Just add the serial number to your question, and I can give you a date of manufacture.
To find the year that any Winchester gun was made, you just need to know which model it is and what the serial number is (the model number and serial number are stamped on the gun itself). . Then go to this website and it will tell you when it was made: http://oldguns.net/sn_php/winmods.htm
Its just the model name. ie Jag XJS - the Jag is the manufacture and the XJS is the mode ! So with the 50D - Canon is the make and the 50D is the model number.

Not sure. I just bought one that has a similar "f" prefix to the number and can't find the answer. That serial number appears to be from 1972. The phone number for Winchester is 800-333-3288 or 801-876-2711 and you will need your model and serial number for them to look up your date of manufacture.
Late 1987 or early 1988. Just before the 29-4 came out in 1988.
The Model 36 was never produced in stainless steel, just blue and nickel. The serial number indicates 1973-1974 manufacture. sales@countrygunsmith.net

Should be able to find this model in the Manufacture Date - Winchester section of www.oldguns.net. In fact, you can find it there. I just did. It's 1958.
