yes ( you need to take your battery cables off and wait 2 ? minutes before working around an air bag )
i was at a demo for the jaws of life, and the guy said if at the seen of an accident and the airbags did not deploy just remove the key from the ignition. the airbag will not go off
you dont have to be moving at all, you just have to have the key on and get hit in the front with enough force to make the air bags deploy
sounds like a security issue. i would look for an aftermarket alarm under the dash.
The passenger airbag can be switched on and off with your key. The switch (looks like a lock) is located on side of the dash on the passengerside and can be operated with the door open only. While switched off, the indicator on the dash will light up to indicate that the passenger's airbag is disabled. According to the manual, unless the airbag is switched off, both airbags will deploy in case of an accident, even if the passenger seat is not in use. Check your manual for proper instructions!
Use the shift key
You shouldn't remove the airbag and subsequently drive without a passenger side airbag. The only purpose to remove the air bag in that case is to kill the passenger. The alteration or removal of an airbag resulting in death is an act that will face criminal prosecution. My 2001 Dodge 3500 passenger side airbag can be disarmed with the key on the dash. No need to remove it.
Engine, trans, and abs are under the hood. Airbag, cluster, body, sentry key (chip key), hvac, and compass are inside.Engine, trans, and abs are under the hood. Airbag, cluster, body, sentry key (chip key), hvac, and compass are inside.
If the light is on the airbag system is disabled, and there's a problem. You can't just shut it off. Hook up a scan tool and retrieve the fault code and fix it right. or the airbags will not deploy if you're in an accident. Prolog: I'm pretty sure we all know to fix the problem, but most of us just left the airbag lock unplugged or the seat unplugged when we turned the key on. I too am searching for a cure. I know Nissan titan's you can key on key off 3 times to reset.
use ignition key in passanger sideof the dash with door open to turn airbag on the light goes out
insert ignition key into passenger airbag slot on the front dash and turn to off
on mine (MK2) there is a place to put your key in the passenger side door which turns the airbag on and off
The airbag light in the 2003 GMC ENVOY can be reset by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes. Then reconnect the battery, turn the key to on without starting the vehicle, and pump the gas pedal three times if the light is still on after reconnecting the battery.
