Yes, but not usually. I was born at exactly 22.5 weeks and have reached adulthood without any serious medical complications. However, I was very, very lucky. Children born this early very often have serious health complications, including blindness, deafness and mental retardation. Premature babies often have additional health problems in their first few months, as they have not fully developed. I had apnea - basically, I would stop breathing at unpredictable times - due to underdeveloped lungs. There are others, but it would be better to try a medical organization for those details.
