Year, make and model would help, but generally...no. Unless the knock sensor were actually loose (not bolted down or broken) and "banging" off some other part, but this is a very unlikely scenario. Knock sensors are design to detect exactly that, engine knocks. There purpose is to have the vehicle's computer reduce timing, adjust fuel ratio and/or possibly shut down the engine completely if the sensor detects a knock that could result in engine damage.
Most likely cause-valvetrain noise, check oil level, pressure, also possible engine knock. If you have a knock sensor, mil should be illuminated
The knock sensor just advances and retards the engine timing only. If there is a noise in the engine then you have engine are valve train problems. The knock sensor will not make the engine knock.
Serious engine knock or valve train noise. Have this looked into by a pro.
It retards / slows the engine timing up when it detects an engine knock / pining noise like bad fuel are valve noise.
It is located on the side of the engine block. If you have a code for a knock sensor and you have a noise in the engine, it will set the code. That does not mean that the sensor is bad. They very rarely give problems.
A knock sensor is to let you know that there is a noise in the engine. It is rare that one fails. If you had someone read codes and the knock sensor was the one to come up, that only means that that circuit is the one setting the code. You need to have someone diagnosis the problem. You could have a rod knocking or any loud noise detected could set the code.
The knock sensor is exactly what it says. It senses any knock or ticking in the engine and retards the timing. The knock sensor is not the problem, the knocking is. Go to a repair shop and have it diagnosed.
It is located on the side of the engine block. The purpose of the knock sensor is to retard engine timing When there is an engine noise. It is a rare case that one ever goes bad.
It is located on the engine block. A knock sensor will very seldom give a problem. It detects engine noises and retards to timing. If you have a code then you need to find the noise and repair it.
No all it is is basically a microphone to monitor for noise-nothing to do with the engine running.
Sometimes putting a jug of transmission fluid in your oil will clean the junk out of your lifters and stop your noise - if it is an older vehicle with adjustable rockers you can adjust and get rid of the knock.
You can't, its done by the computer if you have a knock noise, replace the knock sensor. its locate on the back of the engine near the alternator.
