you fish murderer
Some people do not believe it but the best water to use in your betta fish tank is tap water. Bottled and distilled water has been "purified" and does not have the minerals that your Betta fish needs. If your tap water is so bad that you do not even drink it, than use spring water.
You can buy spring or distilled water at Wal-mart for less than $1 a gallon.
No, distilled water is distilled water.
Fairly long, at least a few weeks, due to the air breathing organ it has. regular water changes help: You can oxygenate the water by removing the fish and removing some of the distilled water then pour new water 4-9 inches above the tank..the higher the water the more oxygen (take into account how much water your tank hold, the less water the more splashing from a higher distance). Next, add some soft rocks that wont affect pH (ie quartz, slate), and some betta vitamins, all this will condition the water better for the fish and keep it healthy. Then you can put your fish back in the water, once the temperatures are the same.
Distilled water is not a base.
You should not drink distilled water as it lacks minerals which are beneficial for us.Make a solution of the salt in distilled water.
It can be done but it is a very very hard and complicated process to make distilled water into water that will support aquatic life successfully. I only know of one person who can do it and he is a fully qualified chemist. Your Betta would be much better off in tap water provided you make sure any chlorine and/or chloramine have been removed. Pet shops carry chloramine remover. Chlorine is a gas and will evaporate off from the water if you keep it a few hours in a bucket.
Distilled water is neutral
