What model do you have? I am saying no to your question. In most vehicles the service engine light deals with the operation of the "engine", igniton system, exhaust, and fuel system. If there is a problem with the brakes you could see an ABS light (if equiped) or a BRAKE! light on. If the Service engine soon light is on in your vehicle the problem lies in one of those systems. Good Luck
No it will not. YOU have another problem.
Ambient temperature Should have no effect on Service engine light Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
Usually a problem in the emission system. Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
YES IT CAN SO GET IT FIXED
The Ford Explorer service light will come on to tell you of a problem. The issue could be minor, or could result in loss of fuel economy, or cause engine failure over time.
Normally it should have no effect on the engine performance as regards 'dying'. You may have more than one problem.
The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to a parts store or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.
Accumulation of brake dust, or brake pads that are nearing the end of their service life.
There are pages and pages of things that can cause a check engine light. You need to have it checked with a scantool. Then the code can be diagnosed and repaired.
The engine check light on Chrysler town & country come on only when there is problem with any sensor Mal function which set off the engine check light. To reset this indication light read the OBD code and correct the corresponding problem. Once the cause of problem is corrected, than only OBR scanner will reset this service engine light can be reset.
Any problem with the car that affects its emissions will cause the light to come on and stay on until the problem has been fixed. (There are literally dozens of possible causes.)
This does appear to be a particular problem for all GM trucks and SUVs. The problem could be a poor design, or intentional design of premature rear brake pad wear for aftermarket sales. I have asked several GM service departments about this problem. All have admitted seeing excessive rear brake wear before the front, none can or will explain it.
