Not sure what you mean by being "notified". I would just say that it is not a good idea to try to beat the system. A bankruptcy case does not end when the judge discharges your debts. Your creditors still have rights after the discharge if you have been less than honest during the trial.

Can a debt collector still collect your debt if you file chapter 13?

No they cannot, as long as you included them in your bankruptcy. They would be in violation of Federal Law, and liable to suit and possible penalty from the bankruptcy court. The bankruptcy attorney, or the trustee should be notified about any collections on a bankruptcy account.

Can you open a checking account before bankruptcy?

After declaring bankruptcy it is smart to wait six months before obtaining a new account. If a trustee finds that you have XXXX amount of dollars in bank B after closing an account at bank A it will look as if you tried to defraud the bankruptcy law. For chapter 7 wait until discharge for chapter 13 as long as you are making timely payments it doesn't matter.

Can you have a credit card and a checking account if you file bankruptcy?

Of course you can. The card issuer has to be listed along with the balance owed. If there is a zero balance on the card and outstanding charges that have not hit yet, you may not have to list it, but it's safer to list it. Any amount in a checking account that cannot be exempted under state or federal exemptions becomes property of the bankruptcy estate. You don't get to keep it.

If someone files for bankruptcy can the Credit Card company take money out of your checking account to try and retrieve some of the debt after they were informed you were filing bankruptcy?

No, once a bankruptcy is filed an automatic "stay" is in place, and creditors cannot pursue any collection action. Even outside of bankruptcy, a creditor cannot arbitrarily garnish a debtor's bank account. The creditor needs to file and win a lawsuit, be granted a judgment and then enforce the judgment as a bank account garnishment.

Can a creditor put a hold on your savings account after you claim bankruptcy?

When you file for bankruptcy, all your assets are revealed to the trustee and basically frozen. No, a creditor probably won't put a hold on your savings account after you file but they can until your bankruptcy is discharged. Usually a letter from your attorney saying you have filed bankruptcy will stop this action.
