Yes, a civilian in the US certainly has that authority. Just drop by your local police department and they will gladly provide you with the necessary ticket book. Holding the perpetrator until a sworn officer arrives on the scene may prove dicey.

Is 25 mph over the speed limit reckless driving?

Your close but no! Any speed over the speed limit can be considered reckless driving if the Law Enforcement Officer can prove that you were driving reckless, and that you were driving without "DUE REGARD" to the safety of others. Your speed, driving behavior, and whether you were endangering the safety of the public much all be considered before you can be charged with reckless driving. I am a Police Officer and my advise to anyone that reads this is to not ever be going 25 over the posted speed. Speed limits are there for a reason. I not saying someone should be arrested and loose their license for going 10 to 15 over but but definitely should get a ticket. 25 over on the other hand is absolutely ridiculous. -----Hope this answers you question.

How many points for reckless driving in florida?

Reckless Driving is generally 3 points on your license and on your insurance record. This is the same as for a DUI as far as insurance goes or for having an accident. These are all 3 points. There's a joke about what's the difference in a DUI or Reckless Driving? The punchline is having a lawyer. A lawyer or the police officer themselves try to tell you they achieved something for you by getting your violation reduced to Reckless Driving instead of DUI but in reality it makes no difference and the Judge will almost always do this for you if you ask anyway without paying an Attorney. Save your money to pay for the insurance increase.

In an odd sense, almost every officer is a civilian before receiving a commission. Only someone elevated from the ranks and already in the service is not a civilian before commissioning.

Can a cop take your license legally in Texas for driving reckless driving?

It is the court which ultimately decides if your licence is to be suspended or not. A police officer, if they deem you pose a significant threat to other motorists, may detain you in order to keep you off the road.

Is reckless driving and getting a ticket a violation of probation?

What is reckles driving with CDL?

Just while being in possession of a CDL, or while operating a CMV? If you get a reckless driving charge in a four wheeler as a CDL holder, it's no different than if you didn't have a CDL.. except you'll probably lose your job and finding work as a CMV operator isn't going to be fruitful for you afterwards. And yes, offences in a four wheeler go on the same MVR as offences in a CMV do, so a ticket you get in your personal vehicle will affect you employment wise, and you're required to report that ticket just the same as you are if you were cited in a CMV. If you got a reckless driving charge while operating a CMV, the only difference between the criteria for that and a reckless driving charge is that the officer has a little more leniency to declare it reckless driving.. and that you'll get hammered on your CSA2010 report, as well.

Can you get a ticket for driving left of center on a dirt road?

If lanes are not marked, you cannot be pulled over for a lane violation. However, you can always be pulled over for reckless driving, which is at the discretion of the officer.
