No. Felons are not allowed to buy a weapon in South Carolina.

ADDED: A question which can have mixed answers. Since there is no background check required for the sale of long guns, someone who is a felon COULD actually purchase one. HOWEVER - their possession of it would violate both SC AND federal law, and make them liable for a LONG prison sentence. ALSO, if the seller knew, or had reason to believe that, the purchaser was a felon, they too could be prosecuted.

Not unless it was manufactured prior to 1898 and is classified as an antique.

The problem with owning one even then is that under 18 USC, felons are not permitted to possess explosives, and black powder is an explosive. Therefore, even if you lawfully owned a genuine antique, you could not legally poossess the powder to fire it.

US Code, Title 18, Para's 921 & 922

Many states exclude convicted felons from having a compound bow or being near weapons. This includes the state of South Carolina. Convicted felons also cannot have roommates that own weapons.
