Google has a special layout just for the DSi browser. If you use the "Search" option on the Start screen, look at the URL, then you will notice a segment reading, "client=ds&hl=XX&rls=com.Nintendo.ds:", which basically is telling Google that you are using a DS to search, so that it gives you the special DSi version.
The DSi browser can, in fact, go on almost any website, although it does sometimes have problems with Facebook and other desktop websites due to the little memory the device has compared to a full-sized computer, such as a laptop or desktop.
Also the browser does not support Flash, HTML5, Java (JavaScript is supported, but that isn't the same thing), or Microsoft Silverlight. You can still go on to YouTube, but you can't watch any videos.
