Yes there are eye witness accounts, like what happened to a Robert Pamprin off the California coast several years ago while diving for abilone. His partner saw him inside the mouth of an enormous white shark, from the chest down. He was never seen again, as the shark slowly swam away, taking him completely down as it went.
