Possibly if there is little pressure in the pipe -(ie if it's a drain pipe) . For a pressure carrying pipe,I would cut out the hole and replace with a long coupling, or a short piece of pipe and 2 couplings.
Once the fire is out and the board is cool, you can use it, but you will have a melted edge or if it was in the center you will have a hole.

If I had your problem, I would try to find a suitable 'mechanical' method -possibly screws or rivets.
