What is the significance of the number of feet the horse has on the ground in a statue of a rider on a horse?

If YOU SEE ALL FOUR HOOVES OFF THE GROUND IT MEANS YOU'VE HAD TOO MUCH TO DRINK!It is really only a legend because it is most definitely not true for all statues but... For statues of heroes on horseback, if one of the horses hooves are off the ground the soldier was wounded in battle. If two of the hooves are off the ground then the soldier was killed in battle. If all four hooves are off the ground the soldier was unharmed in battle. Should be all four feet on the ground - not off the ground Learned these facts in Mendoza, Argentina, but could not quite remember how it went exactly

Can a horse jump 9 feet?

No one could give a straight answer to this. Ever horse is different, so every horse jumps a different hieght. For example, my Oldenburg can jump an average of 5-6 feet. He is my show horse. On the other hand, my Quarter Horse can only jump a max of 3 ft. You see, all horse breeds have a different standard. :)

What are the gaits of horseback riding?

Walk - a four beat gait. The horse will be going at its slowest and when it lifts one foot the other three should be on the ground. Trot - a two beat gait. The horse will have two feet on and two feet off the ground. In a diagonal pattern. So if its front right is off the ground so is its back left. Canter - a three beat gait. The horse will be going slower then a gallop but faster then a trot. Gallop - a four beat gait. This gait is similar to the canter but it is much faster. You see Kentucky Derby races horses going at this pace. Other Gaits include: Pace, Tolt, Fox Trot, Rack The following is a website where you can view and read about all the horse gaits. http:/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse_gaits
