∙ 13y agoApparently so. My breastfeeding baby bit me and broke the skin. It wasn't healing and so my doctor took a culture and it came back positive for staph. I suppose it might not have been a full blown staph infection but it was red and swollen and sore and so I suspect there was at least an infected area where staph bacteria were present.
