I had a bad experience when I placed a juvenile male with an adult male. The adult pushed the small guy into his den and seemed to hold him captive. I haven't paired them again since then.
yea it would be better if they had a female but yea
Yes but do not let them mount one another
basicly one that is not very predatory and one that isn't a cannibal. just to be safe make sure it a female that isn't bigger than it.
that is not true a sea turtle bites when it wants a mate i know i had two
The southern painted turtle lives in northern mexico.
NEVER mix species together unless they co-exist naturally in the wild !
In a critter box! P.S. i did it too!
I should know... It's MICHIGAN! I live in Michigan and the painted turtle is amazing to our culture! Hope that helped!
you should not put them together because tortioses live on land with little water. eastern painted turtles love water and spend most of their time in water. what i would do is get two different tanks to put them in. by the way eastern painted turtles are omnivores and hermann's tortoises are herbivores. the two wouldn't work together.
It depends on the size. mine are just babies with the Southern and Eastern painted turtles being a little bit bigger and so they crawl on top of the RES as if he was a rock cause he's littler.
around 40 years possibly i think
NO. The eastern box turtle is a land turtle and the painted turtle is aquatic. If you had a habitat large enough that could accommodate a land area, a shallow water area and a deep water area it would be ok to house them together. The painted turtle would spend most of its time in the deeper water only coming on to land to bask, and the box turtle will spend the majority of its time on the land. They are not harmful to each other
Yes they can live together. Painted turtles and sliders can co-exist with each other. Just remember though with all turtle species, males tend to be more aggressive than females
i don't think so.i have 1 turtle and 9 snails........:)
