Hi, Yes some Narcissistic people can be prone to similar behavious that is expressed in a manic depressive person. Also some manic depressive, during the early stages of the illness can be diagnosed as Narcisstic.
Manic depressive disorder, also known as bipolar, is a disorder where the individual alternates between states of manic behavior and being depressed.
Bipolar I disorder is characterized by manic episodes, the "high" of the manic-depressive cycle.
I believe it takes patience and a degree of self confidence.. its tricky. You just used the best tool at your finger tips ... the Internet! Go onto: www.google.com TYPE IN: Manic-depressive people THEN AFTER YOU HAVE WHAT YOU WANT THERE TYPE IN: How does a family member help the manic-depressed person? In order to do well at anything you need to have knowledge of it and this is no different. By studying manic-depressive individuals, how they feel and what they are striving for, it will help you to help them. It won't be an easy road because a large percentage of manic-depressive people are so low with depression they don't believe anything will help them and they will often refuse to keep up their medications (especially in men.) If they work closely with a professional or doctor and do as they are told then there is no reason they can't lead a relatively healthy and normal lifestyle.

There is no such illness. Perhaps you are thinking of manic DEPRESSIVE. This is an illness where the person suffers from uncontrollable mood swings. Sometimes they feel so horrible they can't even get out of bed. At other times, they feel full of energy and elation.
