Hi
My dog is a Schnauzer/Patterdale mix who is about 9 years old and a rescue dog, male. He is typically Patterdale. Recently we adopted a new rescue dog. She is a Collie- Cross, about same age. Ralph gets on with her well. No problems at all. Ralph didn't like her touching his toys at first so we bought Ripley the Collie-Cross, some new toys too and of course they had to establish not to touch each others bowls when eating but she told him by a kind of barking/growl and he obeyed. They are slowly becoming closer.
I have heard its easier to introduce a female to a male regardless of size, breed etc. Maybe if our new addition was male Ralph the Pat mix might have behaved differently, I don't know but its a consideration.
Regards Karen
The oldest living miniature schnauzer on record is typically around 16-17 years old. However, some exceptional individuals have been known to live up to 20 years or more with proper care, diet, and exercise. Factors such as genetics, environment, and overall health play significant roles in determining the lifespan of a miniature schnauzer.
There is no telling. Mary Kate (a schnauzer where i work) had 10, but they didnt all live because it was such a big litter :( i think the record was 11, but im not sure.
All breeds of dogs are domesticated animals and live "with humans." Dogs live either in our homes, on our farms or in other situations in which they are supervised by human beings. If a schnauzer is abandoned, he or his young will eventually return to feral behavior and live in packs as their ancestors, the wolves, do.
Lifespan of Miniature Schnauzers at a little over 12 years. About 20% lived to 15 years
Yes, all dogs are mammals because they are warm-blooded, give birth to live young and nurse their young.
Mine lived for 12 years then had a kidney disease and we had to put her down. So, maybe 15 years or so?
The life expectancy of a 9-year-old miniature schnauzer with diabetes can vary, but generally, dogs with well-managed diabetes can live for several years after diagnosis. However, the presence of diabetes may lead to complications that could shorten their lifespan. On average, a miniature schnauzer may live around 12-15 years, so with diabetes, a 9-year-old could potentially live an additional 2-5 years with proper care and management. Regular veterinary check-ups and a healthy diet are crucial to maintaining their health.
15 + years but they can live to 25 or over my old one lived 27 years
Schnauzers have a life span of about 12-16 years. But Miniature Schnauzers can live to about 22 years of age if they are kept happy and healthy. Average lifespan for mini schnauzers is 12-15 years. My neighbor's and mine both passed this month, one from diabetes, the other from cancer. They were 11 and 12 years old.
