Although many MSW programs require a certain number of hours of humanities or social science classes, it is not a requirement to have a BSW. But, the advantage to a BSW is that you can take part in an advanced standing MSW program which is a 1 year degree, instead of the usual 2 year degree. So you're required to get a 4 year bachelors degree and a 2 year MSW degree ( or 1 year if you apply for an advanced standing program).
