I have cirrhosis and for about a year I had a really bad hernia. My doctor gave hydrcodone for the pain from the hernia and after surgery she placed me on Tramadol for lingering pain from my surgery. It's been so long since I took any OTC pain medicine, I can't remember which one I'm supposed to stay away from. I'd check with my doc and see what they say. Any other meds you have qeustions about?
No
A person with cirrhosis of the liver can live for many years until they receive a transplant. The chances of survival prior to a transplant depend on the person's ability to get treatment. If a person with cirrhosis does not get a transplant, they will die.
Yes, because Motrin is expelled by the kidneys and acetaminophen is metabolized by the liver.
Because Vicodin contains acetaminophen, which in large doses, can severely damage one's liver. Do not take more than 1000 mg of acetaminophen at one time. It can cause liver failure. One Vicodin contains 325 mg of acetaminophen.
Liver cancer is not the same as liver cirrhosis. Cancer is a replication of malignant (or, "damaged") cells, which gradually take over an organ, reducing the function, and may spread to other parts of the body. (i.e, cancer cells growing and taking over the liver, reducing function). Whereas cirrhosis is vast amounts of scarring to the hepatocytes (liver cells), which make up the liver. (i.e liver cells, which are already in existence, being damaged). Cirrhosis does not spread to other parts of the body.
If Cirrhosis of the liver is present in the patient who is receiving the organ, then their Liver is removed and the new one is put into place. Depending on the reasons why the patient had Cirrhosis in the first place depends if it will return in the future. The procedure can take anywhere from 5 hours to 12+ hours, depending on the method the surgeon uses.
No, it has acetaminophen. Do not take multipli products containing acetaminophen without checking with your doctor as this could result in serious liver problems
Lortab has acetaminophen in it. If you do it once most likely nothing will happen. If regularly combine the two you will be taking too much acetaminophen and can have liver damage.
Liver Kidneys
Sulphasalazine, which is an inexpensive and readily available pharmaceutical, holds promise for reversing cirrhosis of the liver.
Vicodin already has acetaminophen in it! It is a combination of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. You should not take more acetaminophen with Vicodin, as it can cause serious liver damage. Vicoprofen is the drug that contains hydrocodone and ibuprofen.
Yes, acetaminophen is safe to take with Zocor. Tylenol is fairly safe to take with most other drugs. Just remember not to take more than the amount recommended. It can cause liver damage if you take too much.
