What the employer cannot do is make allegations as to the character or performance of the former employee. Example: accusing a person of stealing when the charge was unfounded.

∙ 12y agoYES! There are no laws or requirements forbidding your former employer to tell anyone why you were fired, In fact it would be his obligation if asked by your new boss to tell him the truth. In most cases The employer just wants you to leave, and will not say negative reports about. Anyone that is fired should speak to the employer and ask him not to say anything derogatory when called by your next boss. Some of them actually have a heart and understand you need to make a living.
