Judgments and other legal actions are a matter of public record. By law, social security numbers cannot be available in public records, even when though records contain them (as in Federal Tax lien based on employment and bankruptcy filings). Additionally, social security numbers do not have the precendence in credit reporting that most consumers think they do. Credit "merge" logic primarily focuses on your name and location information.

Can a judgment be assessed on an individual with no income other than social security and only asset is his home?

Yes. A judgment can be entered against a defendant but whether or not it can be enforced is another matter. Defendants of civil suits are allowed to protect a certain amount of personal (clothing, household goods, investments, etc.) and real property (houses, land, etc.). Social Security benefits of all types are exempt from creditor action. The judgment creditor can in most instances place a lien against any real property held by the judgment debtor. The laws of the debtor's state and the way the property is titled determines what if any action a judgment creditor can take against a home.

If you have direct deposit of your social security check can they take the money in your bank account if they have a judgment against you?

The judgment creditor can execute the judgment as a bank levy in which case, the bank must release the amount of funds stated in the court order regardless of how the funds are deposited in the account. The entire balance of an account can be seized if it is needed to pay the judgment order. The judgment debtor should take steps to protect funds within the account that might be considered exempt (Social Security benefits, disability benefits, monies that belong to an account holder who is not the judgment debtor, etc.)
