i dont no about a slack chain but what it sounds like is your flix plate on your trans if its a stick for get about it now i no it sounds wird but this happend to me what i did was with the motor runing in park i under my truck with the water hose and spayed the flex plate the sound went away let it come back same thing went away took it apart it had a crack all the way around where the bolts hold it to the crank a good bud of mine his dad worked at clipengers he told me this
check timing. timing advance. or slack in timing chain/belt
No
Possible cam chain tensioner has broke.these tensioners are none adjustable and sometimes brake causing a knocking sound in the motor
The 2 most likely: A. Timing is off. B. Oil is low.
You can tell a timing chain is bad when your engine makes a sharp washboard-like sound that increases in intensity when the engine's RPMs increase.
I doubt it. How do you know the roar is from the throttle body when at highway speeds? Is the knocking a heavy metalic knock or more of a marbles in a tin can sound? Is the snorkel tight at all points going into the throttle body?
A marble sound under load indicates the engine is out of time. Have the ignition timing checked and the timing chain/belt for damage or excessive play.
Nothing... It won't run. The chain will become noisy and the engine may be out of time and perform poorly.
A hole in the muffler would cause a knocking sound in your muffler. A loose exhaust pipe can also cause a knocking noise.
No it has a timing chain. The tenionsers do need attention if you hear a rattling sound from the front of the motor.
If the noise sounds like a banging sound it could be that you have a worn timing chain. Note: 22re's have timing chains not belts. You should have the noise checked-out by an experienced Toyota mechanic.
Yes. The A has a short A sound as in stammer or slack.
