Yes, slow typist can also become a successful in medical transcriptionist. Usual typing speed need for MT is 35 wpm. If you are doing less also ok, but you have to practice on typing tutors to increase speed. Once you are listening to dictations, speed will increase automatically. If you get a good medical transcription training, they probably wouldn't let you get any kind of certificate without you achieving the right wpm as an MT. Slow typing can always be solved through training and practice so don't worry so much about it.

Would Electronic medical record take over medical transcription?

I don't think so because you will still need MTs to go over the EMR to edit and review it. Additionally, not all doctors want to use EMR. I think it will take over the medical transcription in small physician's offices and small clinics as well as in emergency departments and radiology departments in hospitals. I don't think it will ever completely replace medical transcriptionists. Every company should. In fact, even for when they are looking for employees to work for them, they are looking for those with the right certification for their training. As a medical transcription company, MTS Transcription Services (MTS) knows the importance of maintaining confidentiality of all patient related records, and therefore we make every possible effort to help clients achieve HIPAA compliance within the timelines established by HIPAA regulations. How Dictation Transcription Will Evolve in the AI vs Human Race: 2023 and Beyond?

Introduction to Dictation Transcription Dictation transcription is the process of transcribing an audio file into a written document. This is done by either a human transcriptionist or an AI-based program. Human transcriptionists use specialized software to listen to the audio file and type out the words they hear. AI-based programs, on the other hand, use algorithms to interpret the audio file and convert it into a written document. Both types of dictation transcription have their advantages and disadvantages. What is its significance in medical transcription?

Since most encounters between a health care provider and a patient are recorded either by voice or electronically, organizations need transcriptionists to listen to the dictation and transcribe (type) it for the patient's file. Even as voice recognition systems grow in popularity, medical transcriptionists and editors are still needed to review computer generated documents for errors. In addition to grammar and typing skills, employers look for knowledge of Latin (and Greek) word derivation, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacy. As the large baby-boomer population ages, the healthcare industry will see increased demand for medical services, such as medical transcription.
