Snowmobiles don't drive on water so to speak. However they can and do hydroplane on water, and is sometimes done on an oval track cut in the ice. Once they hit the water, if they do not go right down, they must keep the track spinning to propel them across the water. If they loose momentum for any reason, they are going down like a stone. Yes you can drive a snowmobile in Canada with your G1 as long as you are insured, you can not drive on the 400 highway but who would anyway with a snowmobile, but you can ride the OFSC Trails as long as you have a trail permit and sticker as well as plate and insurance.
