As the person gets older, the APD typically wanes to some extent, and it is common for anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders to develop. Additionally, the extensive substance abuse of many persons with this disorder contribute to the development of secondary illnesses.

Before a serial killer (always sociopaths) gets put on trial, they are given a psych test that cannot be manipulated. This is to see if the people are mentally insane, i.e they had no control over what they are doing. All serial killers, and therefore sociopaths score extremely high in major depression. In fact major depression is probably a precursor to sociopathy. Sociopaths almost always have troubled pasts, which can cause major depression. Major depression generally has a lot to do with self anger, guilt ect, and is a disease. You wouldn't blame someone for throwing up when they have a cold, depression symptoms are the same way. If left untreated, the patient has no one to talk to, the anger and anxiety needs to be channeled somehow, and thus manipulation and murder of others is in a sense a channeling of self hatred and guilt unto other people. Thus while some people are more prone to sociopathy, all sociopaths are created, and all have major depression because major depression is one of the main causes of the development of a sociopath.

yes actually they can i have a lot in fact people that are sociopath or psychopath have the most anxiety of people mostly social anxiety since they have to watch what they say not cause they care but only so they can get their way what they want such as superficial charm, how come they have so many freind and girls well they know what to say and when to say it since they think about it alot but also their a negative side to it too so really it work both way..to sum it all up Anxiety is not limited to normal person and Sociopath can have it too which make them more dangerous even when u think the guy like u or even love u inside they can fear u to death and have other plan with u and u never know what going to happen....maybe that just my anxiety speaking

Anyone could be suicidal, so it fully depends on the trouble the sociopath has gotten themselves into. But in general, a sociopath ... being unable to feel guilt, shame or remorse ... has many more options to resolve their particular issues before resorting to suicide.

A sociopath could become aware that they are on the verge of being completely exposed, and if that exposure includes criminal activities, then suicide may be considered the only way out for some.

THE BIGGER RISK IS TO THE VICTIM

A sociopath will do anything it takes to achieve their objectives ... objectives which are usually narcissistic in nature. They manipulate, control and use others to help them reach their goals.

If a sociopath determines that an individual knows enough truth to expose the sociopath (whether that individual does or not), the sociopath begins to target that person, and that's a very dangerous place to be.

Though likely unaware of being attacked, that individual begins being maliciously victimized.

Therefore, I believe it's the sociopath's victim who would be much more likely to resort to suicide.

Most definitely While sociopaths feel an extreme entitlement; place themselves in higher benefits than others around them, they on occasion recognize who and what they are. I have been a sociopath since birth and was diagnosed when i was 18. I can say for one that I myself have been suicidal while going through times in my life where I did not understand myself. Before I was diagnosed I only had an idea of my condition, and coping with being different and recognizing the disorder within myself drove me to be suicidal.
