I have this problem as well . all up and down my spine . i have this seat called the abb lounger . now i got mine cheep { love those yard sales} I would never use it to do sit ups . but it works great to release tress from my lower back . I lay back on it and just stretch my spine . but still i often prefer the bed . I lay with my head off the bed and slowly work my way to the floor using my own weight to stretch out . go slow . when you hit a spot that hurts stop and stay till the pain subsides . and dont get half way and try to get up . if it hurts to bad just slide on down to the floor . and give yourself time to adjust before getting up . beware of the fact that much of your back probloms are not because there is something wrong with your back . but instead there is something wrong with your lifestyle . simple things such as how you sleep and a point lots of people donot think of is your daily movement . such as how you walk or when you turn you should lead with your head . most people lead with there body and this keeps your neck from having a range of motion . look up thi chi it will help you to understand better .

What can happen if an intervertebral disk is hernieated?

As the spinal disc becomes less elastic, it can rupture. When the disc ruptures, a portion of the spinal disc pushes outside its normal boundary--this is called a herniated disc. When a herniated disc bulges out from between the vertebrae, the spinal nerves and spinal cord can become pinched. There is normally a little extra space around the spinal cord and spinal nerves, but if enough of the herniated disc is pushed out of place, then these structures may be compressed.

What is a herinated disc?

Many patients with back pain, leg pain , or weakness of the lower extremity muscles are diagnosed with a herinated disc. When a disc herination occurs, the cushion that sits between the spinal vertebra is pushed out of it's normal position. A herinated disc would not be a problem if it wasn't for the spinal nerves which is very close to the edge of the spinal discs.

What is thickness of spinal disc?

What symptoms would be caused by a small posterior midline disk herniation at c5 and 6 With a mild narrowing of the left neural foramen at this level secondary to uncinate process hypertrophy?

Many patients with back pain, leg pain, or weakness of the lower extremity muscles are diagnosed with a herniated disc. When a disc herniation occurs, the cushion that sits between the spinal vertebra is pushed outside its normal position. A herniated disc would not be a problem if it weren't for the spinal nerves that are very close to the edge of these spinal discs. The spinal disc is a soft cushion that sits between each vertabrae of the spine. This spinal disc becomes more rigid with age. In a young individual, the disc is soft and elastic, but like so many other structures in the body, the disc gradually looses its elasticity and is more vulnerable to injury. In fact, even in individuals as young as 30, MRIs show evidence of disc deterioration in about 30% of people. When the herniated disc ruptures and pushes out, the nerves may become pinched. A herniated disc may occur suddenly in an event such as a fall or an accident, or may occur gradually with repetitive straining of the spine. Often people who experience a herniated disc already have spinal stenosis, a problem that causes narrowing of the space around the spinal cord and spinal nerves. When a herniated disc occurs, the space for the nerves is further diminished, and irritation of the nerve results.SymptomsElectric Shock PainPressure on the nerve can cause abnormal sensations, commonly experienced as electric shock pains. When the compression occurs in the cervical (neck) region, the shocks go down your arms, when the compression is in the lumbar (low back) region, the shocks go down your legs.Tingling & NumbnessPatients often have abnormal sensations such as tingling, numbness, or pins and needles. These symptoms may be experienced in the same region as painful electric shock sensations.Muscle WeaknessBecause of the nerve irritation, signals from the brain may be interrupted causing muscle weakness. Nerve irritation can also be tested by examining reflexes.Bowel or Bladder ProblemsThese symptoms are important because it may be a sign of cauda equina syndrome, a possible condition resulting from a herniated disc. This is a medical emergency, and your should see your doctor immediately if you have problems urinating, having bowel movements, or if you have numbness around your genitals. All of these symptoms are due to the irritation of the nerve from the herniated disc. By interfering with the pathway by which signals are sent from your brain out to your extremities and back to the brain, all of these symptoms can be caused by a herniated disc pressing against the nerves.

Treatment of herniated disc?

Treatment for herniated disc - The fastest, safest, easiest treatment out there is Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression with the DRX9000. Spinal Decompression looks a little like a big traction machine but actually does much more. It creates a vacuum affect in the spine which pulls any herniated or bulging discs back into place.

What does left paracentral disc protrusion seen at T9-10 touching the left hemicord mean?

You basically have a herniated disc (slipped disc) in your middle back that's pressing on your spinal cord.

What is right paracentral disc protrusion at T8-T9 and T7-T8?

This means that the spinal disc ("shock absorber" between the vertebrae) is protruding (bulging) on the left into the area where the peripheral spinal nerve leaves the spinal cord (neural foramen). If the disc compresses (impinges) the spinal nerve in the neural foramen, there can be symptoms that radiate into the extremities. If the nerve impingement is in the neck, then symptoms are usually felt in the shoulder blade area and arm. In the low back, the symptoms can be felt in the buttock and back of the thigh ("sciatica") and even the entire leg and foot.

Does humans have vertebral column?

your spinal chord is completely different than a vertebrate.spinal chord is full of spinal fluid that runs from the bottom of the brain to the lower back.vertebrates are bones that support your back and in between every vertebrate there is a disc which acts like a shock absorber. your L5 S1 disc is the biggest disc in your back and absorbs the most pressure

Lower back pain below rib when lying down?

could be chronic arthritis, spinal istnosis, herniated disc, or muscle strains. Spinal istnosis is when something wrongs with the spine and herniated disc is bulging of lumbar disc. hope i helped!
