I would just get a new m4 mag. They Are cheap and probably isn't worth tryin to fix. How ever it sounds like you have a spring problem with your mag try replacing the spring.
Lets say its an M4. Any M4 mag will work. Lets say its a MK36. Any MK36 mag will work. If its designed for the gun, it will work.
Store your gas mags in a relatively warmer area, because if you shoot your gun while the gas is cold it will not work properly. It doesn't really matter were you store but just make sure your mag is warm when you shoot it.
They are not gas rings they are friction rings the A5 is a recoil operated shotgun . If you have all the rings in front of the spring it is set for highbrass loads. for light loads set the small ring next to the receiver with spring over it and the rest of the rings over the front of the spring reassemble the gun make the mag nut and forearm are on tight or you will split the forearm.
