Sharks and remoras don't really live together. Remoras are suckerfish. Remoras just attach themselves to the sharks. When sharks catch their pray, The remora who is attached to the shark eats the leftovers. Sometimes remoras attach themselves to scuba divers.
Assuming you mean a remora, or suckerfish, here is what it does. Their fins have a built-in suction cup-like adaption that lets them hang on to sharks. They eat food scraps the sharks leaves behind as well as a few parasites, and it also gets protection from the shark - a true form of symbiosis.
The remora sucks on to the shark using a pad on its back like a suction cup. It can breathe because as the shark swims through the water it pushes the water through the remora's gills. Which lets it absorb the oxygen out of the water to breathe.

Hi, I just wanted to answer your question. No a sailfish is not a mammal. It is a fish and they breathe by gills, which I'm sure you are aware of. I am an avid whale fan and I've recently learned something that I had not thought about. The mammals of the waters have tails that are horizontal and the fish have tails that are vertical. A lot of people also tend to think that the whale shark is a mammal but in-fact it is not. I hope this has helped you. Sincerely, Tmlragland
