Oxycontin is just a time release version of oxycodone. I take oxycodone 15mg, which is fast acting, you can get Oxycontin in 60 or 80mg but it is made to work over a longer time period, some people get into trouble with Oxycontin because they break time release by chewing it, this is very dangerous to put that much oxycodone in your system at once. The only way a test would detect the "difference" is by the amount in your system but not the drug. If you chew up an Oxycontin 60 it will show up the same as if you took 4 oxycodone 15mg. It's the same drug, just different concentrations.

No. Absolutely not. They are both oxycodone. Oxycontin is just a longer acting formulation. Yes they can. The tests at my doctors can definitely tell the difference. one will show up has Oxycontin and the other will show as oxycodone. Now they have tests to make sure patients are using the drugs prescribed. Depending on the test the dr. uses it will tell this difference

Yes, when I was hired in at my job a few years ago, the drug test results paper had Oxycodone (Percocet) and Oxycontin listed as 2 separate things. I also was drug tested when I was being put on Suboxone to quit doing painkillers, and they were listed as 2 separate things. Drug tests are able to distinguish between the two.

No, Oxycodone is in Percocet. If you're meaning Oxycontin and Percocet; the answer is still no because Oxycodone is the ingredient in Oxycontin and the same drug used in Percocet. The only difference is that it may show a higher amount of it, just say you took a few extra Percocet You're good either way though. Oxycontin just is a time released capsule with a large amount of Oxycodone(10-80mg/Each) in it and Percocet has a small immediate effective amount of Oxycodone(5-10mg/Each) mixed with APAP ([325-650mg/each] acetaminophen, Tylenol, etc.) in it. If it's a complete lab test done, then yes, it can distinguish between all the opiates, all the benzodiazpenes (sp?) Most drug tests will just show up as "opiates" in your system, but it depends on how many the panel checks for. The smallest ones are 3, I know with drug tests if you're in trouble with the law they only do a five panel test. My doctor did a 12 panel test wit me and was able to differentiate when I told him the only opiate I took was my prescribed Lortabs. Then he said, "Well, why is oxycodone showing up then?" :/
