In some denominations, yes. Roman Catholics, Orthodox churches and some others forbid women to have leadership roles such as pastor, or priest. However, the Methodist church, United Reformed Church and the Anglican Church along with many others allow women to become ministers or priests.

There is absolutely no reason why women should not become priests or pastors. Opponents cite Biblical verses out of context to somehow defend their position, but too often these passages are used more as 'proof' of their own bigotted and mysoginistic views, and, deeper analysis shows them to be supportive rather than rejecting.

Historically, the early Church has always had female leaders until male domination took over a few centuries after Christ. We know, as an example, of Lydia in the Book of Acts, who was a strong businesswoman selling 'purple cloth' (an ultra-luxurious item in those days) who was also a leader of a Church. Also, in the Fractio Panis - a fresco found in the Roman catacombs, we see a group of very early Christians celebrating Holy Communion - with the person presiding - the priest - clearly (from the clothes, hairsyle and obvious well-endowed bosom) a woman.

On scripture, let's not forget Paul's words:

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28)

- and that includes becoming a pastor and the priesthood

In some Lutheran Churches No. What I think is Yes. My view of is that if woman can be Doctors or president... then why can't they be pastors ? In The Bible God said to spread the Good news of GOD- Jesus Christ, My Lord, heavenly Father. Yes you can be a pastor. You can tthink about it and choose your opinion, but my opinion and view on it is that Yes woman can be pastors. Look somewhere in Peter chapter one. :) This may help.

The Bible does not say that a woman cannot be a pastor; it just says that she should not be a pastor over men.

For example, 1 Timothy 2:11-14 is interpreted by many Christians to mean that a woman is not supposed to teach men.

Many people also point to 1 Corinthians 14:34-35, but that passage seems to be addressing a rather different issue.
