A Pastor (For protestants) and a bishop (For catholics)
Is there an office of a bishop in the Baptist church? I thought, according to the Bible, the pastor is the bishop, when it is talking about the qualifications of the bishop, it is talking about the qualifications of the pastor. I believe that their are two offices in the church. The office of the Pastor and the Deacon. God is the head, Pastor is the under shepherd and the deacons are servants to the pastor, the church and to God.
No. The church can ask the Bishop to reconsider his or her choice of appointment, but ultimately it is the decision of the Bishop to appoint a pastor to a given church. That is the nature of the Episcopal polity.
Pastor
Bishop Joel D. Trout was the Pastor of North Park Apostolic Church. The new pastor is Mark Garcia (former assistant pastor) Bishop Trout resigned as pastor the end of 2006. He has launched a new church called Redemption Church in the city of San Diego. He and his wife are fulfilling ministry with about 200 members. He is also senior pastor of Harvestime Apostolic Ministries in Atlanta Georgia.
No. The pastor is called to shepherd and therefore must have a certain amount of authority but God is the head of the church. The pastor should be the highest human authority within the church but not so high that he is above accountability from the other elders in the church.
Yes Apostle Ellis is the Pastor Of The Apostolic Pentecostal Church Of Morgan Park
There's no such thing as a bishop in a Lutheran church. We strictly have pastors, as well as board members who act in the absence of the pastor.
Yes
The bishop appoints pastors as well as assistant pastors.
Methodist Ministers have total authority over the worship service. They have total authority over teaching new members for admission to membership in the church. The rest of their authority mainly depends on leadership ability and an ability to size up situations and step in when needed. The methodist pastor can call up the bishop and say, "Get me out of here," and he will. The pastor parish relations committee can vote to remove the pastor from the church, and the bishop will. It is generally the congregation that elects that committee. Still, unlike some churches, if some busybody in the congregation doesn't like the pastor, the congregation can't vote to get rid of the pastor. So the pastor has to work but doesn't have to worry about a split in the congregation. John Wesley set up the Methodist Church so that individual congregations could function without a pastor around. Thus, if the creeks were over the bridges and the circuit rider could not get across the swollen rivers, the churches functioned as normal. If the members of the church boards did not do the work and the boards could not function, the pastor could step in and make appointments. When there is a conflict, it is the job of the District Superintendent to come in and review the situation.
That depends on the organization that the person belongs to. Ask your pastor's bishop for the specifics.
