Most welding jobs are considered non gender specific. I have trained both men and women and found that women usually take the training more seriously and become better than their male counterparts. Keep in mind that welding is usually hot, dirty, smokey, heavy work and some women cannot compete. Those that do can earn as much as men can. This like most trades pays according to skill level. Also keep in mind that weldors are mostly men and the atmosphere is macho, to use a polite term. The U.S. had many female weldors during WWII.

A welder's salary is not as high as most, but it still pays. Most welder make anywhere from 30,000 dollars to 40,000 dollars. Very few welders make over 48,000. However, it is a good job option if you don't want to go through years of training. The training required to become a welder is a maximum of 2 years and can even be less than a year.
