Answer YES. EMS agencies have T.V's, bunk rooms, kitchens, and in some cases; work out equipment. All have bathrooms with showers do to sanitation issues. But like the person below me says, it does depend on how busy that agency stays, or what they have to do. Some may not have a single call in a 24 hour period, while some may have 3-12. It ultimately depends. At my EMS agency we play the xbox 360 until we get a call, or we watch t.v. or sleep. In some cases, yes.
EMT's work shifts of varying length depending on staffing requirements, call volumes, the deployment strategy of the EMS service, and the requirements of the company. Some EMT's work 8 hour shifts in which they treat patients almost non-stop. Others work 24 hour shifts in which they may only see a few patients but must transport them long distances.
In most cases, EMT's are allowed and in many cases encouraged to get rest as often as possible between calls and after other duties are complete (like maintaining or cleaning of equipment). Many services also offer areas to rest at stations up to and including bunkrooms, and may invest in roomier ambulances to promote comfortable rest while in the ambulance.
