Almost anything CAN be prevented, but the problem is no one thinks of it first. It's not like BP is mindlessly running tankers out in the ocean completely careless of accidents. That's several billions of dollars in oil that they're losing out there not to mention the cost of the ship.
No, not really. If you look at a beach today that was involved it looks clean, but turn over a rock or dig a bit in the sand and you will find oil. All they did was put people on the beach and steamed cleaned the surface. They had piles of dead animals that they carted away, but the oil is still in the ecosystem.
No, oil will be left in the water for a long, long, long, long, long time after the spill originally happened. As many people don't know, oil doesn't come off easily at ALL. Thousands of animals die from oil spills. It sticks on their fur and won't rinse off in the water. Severe cleaning is needed for oil to come off a living body. It's almost like Vaseline, only ten times worse. The oil that is stuck to the animals' feathers/fur deprives the animals of the ability to hunt and swim properly. Not only that, but fish are harmed by the pollution in their water. Their food is killed off, totally disrupting the food chain. People can never clean up an oil spill completely. The oil lingers in the water for thousands years, never really fully going away. Sure, populations will again redevelop as the majority of it is cleaned up, but there will always be that little bit hiding on the seafloor, polluting the natural environment just a tiny bit. Eventually, the oil will deminish away after sitting in the water SO long. But people really need to change their ways: use solar and wind power, get smaller cars, recycle, and walk to places in short distances. Hope this helped!
never COMPLETELY, but it can be cleaned to an extent
This ship was the Exxon Valdez, now renamed the Dong Fang Ocean.
The highest stock value Exxon have ever attained is $500 billion. Apple and Exxon are two of the very few companies that have ever reached this amount.
No. It is not feasible to completely clean up an oil spill. The oil can be cleaned from beaches, but other areas including wetlands may be impossible to clean. Nature through wind, wave and biological action will over time degrade and disperse (spread out) the oil, so its impact will be much less.
no its copper
No, the biggest one was in the Persian Gulf located between Western Asia and Iran.
The pipeline stops in Valdez Alaska. The oil then is put and an oil tanker and sent to Washington. Ever heard of the Exon Valdez? Pipeline oil.
Think about it...is it ever good?
Yes of course it spilled so many gallons of oil that it dwarfs all other oil spills.
The Deepwater Horizon oil spill (also referred to as the BP oil spill, the BP oil announced that BP would be temporarily banned from new contracts with the US.
Because the oil spill they had an bad oil spill and could not swimm and it polut the eart welll worl or what ever air i gues..
