Yes, just remove the outlet and wire the light in.

If the ballast of the HPS fixture has a 120 volt tap then, yes it can be plugged into a 120 volt receptacle.

User Avatar

Yes the light will come on.If you want safer protect the circuit by a fuse.Typical fuse for wall outlet is 13 amp but for lights it is only 5 amps

Sure. For a light you need a fixture to hold the light and the light itself. The light needs to be connected to a voltage supply which you can get from the outlet. In the outlet box you will have a black, white and bare ground wire. Essentially you connect the white and bare wires directly to the light and switch the black wire (hot) through a switch.

See: "How can you re-wire a wall switch that controls an outlet to control a ceiling fan?" (Follow the link below.) The procedure is the same whether the new device is a light fixture or a ceiling fan.

User Avatar

very easy just pull your self a line from the outlet to the location you want to have the pull light fixture installed ,then connect the black wire to the black wire in the outlet white to the white and the copper ground to the ground then on the other end of the wire at the light fixture location connect the black to the copper screw and the white to the silver screw .and that should make it work with pull string .but make sure the circuit is turned off for that outlet location before you do the instillation

A fixture is what the light bulb goes into.

User Avatar

Yes, you should be able to. (1) Make sure that the circuit breaker to that fixture is de-activated. (2) Remove the celiing fixture and unfasten the fixture from the two wires going into it from the junction box (usually held together by wire nuts). (3) Attach the wires coming from the junction box to the terminals of the new outlet you will be using. (4) secure the outlet to the junction box. (5) Re-activate the circuit breaker. If the former ceiling light was controlled by a switch, the new outlet will also be controlled by the same switch. DISCLAIMER: This instruction is for an ordinary run-of-the-mill ceiling fixture. If more than two wires are involved or the light is controlled from more than one switch, these instruction may not apply.

You put the light bulb into a light fixture or lamp and plug the lamp into the running generator's electrical outlet. Make sure the generator's circuitbreaker is reset.

User Avatar

Just install the new fixture with black to black, white to white, and cap off the ground wire on the new fixture. It'll be fine.

The light is wired the same as any voltage fixture. Bring the source voltage to the fixture and connect it to the two fixture wires. If you want to control the off-on of the fixture take the source voltage to a switch first and then out of the switch to the light fixture.

Take the nut off at the bottom of the light fixture by unscrewing it.

Installing a Ceiling LightInstalling A Ceiling LightReplacing ceiling lights is sometimes a required task when you decide remodel a room or the light fixture has worn out with age. Installing a new ceiling light is a simple task that can be done by most homeowners without any outside help. The first thing to do before installing any light in your ceiling is to turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Since you will be working with electrical wiring, you do not want to take the chance of being shocked or electrocuted. After the power is turned off, unscrew the light bulb from the existing fixture and use a screwdriver take out the screws holding the fixture in place and connecting the wires to the fixture. When the fixture is off, attach a mounting plate to the ceiling light outlet box. Then attach the wires to the new ceiling light fixture. Connect the copper wires together and like colored wires together with wire nuts so that the fixture is properly grounded.Attach the base of the new fixture over the outlet box and tighten it up with screws. Once this is finished, screw the light bulb back into place and put a glass bowl over the bulb to cover it. Use bolts on sides of the fixture to secure the glass bowl in place.Once the fixture is securely in place, return to the circuit breaker. Turn back on the power and test out the light to ensure everything is installed correctly.

Wiring a 2 wire fixture to 4 wire outlet depends on configuration of wires in outlet box. If you have 2 white and 2 black I will assume there are more lights controlled by the same switch. 1st scenario attach both black wires to black of 120 volt fixture. Attach both white wires to white wire from fixture. atach ground to box or ground wire. 2nd scenario attach white neutral to white from fixture, Attach black hot to white going to switch. Attach black from switch to black from light Fixture. If you need further help I recommend hiring a contractor. Take a look into contraxtor.com

Disconnect the fixture wires and remove the central mounting nut to release the dome from the light fixture in a ceiling fan.

If the question is, can I wire a switch to an existing light fixture (and I must assume that it's something like a pull-chain light fixture), the answer is yes.If the question is, "how do I wire a switch to an existing light fixture that has no external switch", the answer is, "in series".The attached web site gives simple instructions on how to wire a basic light switch to an existing light.See sources and related links below

A lock is a fixture, same as a light, sink, tub. A fitting is usually a part of a fixture, or a fixture is made up of fittings.

It just holds the bulb, does not have a switch in the fixture.

Connect the ground wire from the light fixture to the ground wire in the ceiling box.

A fixture or device that holds a light in place by means of some sort of socket, that is connected to a power source.

The tail light lens on a 1989 Chevy Celebrity is part of the tail light fixture and cannot be conveniently removed. If you want to change a light bulb you have to remove the tail light fixture from the car. To remove the tail light fixture: 1. In the trunk next to the quarter panel are three nuts, remove the center nut. It should be in the center of the tail light fixture. 2. Pull the tail light fixture so that the stud comes out of the body, then pull outward to pull the tab out of the backup light fixture. 3. You can now take the appropriate socket out and replace the bulb. Reverse the steps to replace the light fixture.

The National Electrical Code allows this change only if you upgrade the whole circuit. BUT ..If you are using this outlet only when the light is on, connect the black wires together and the white wires together. Ground wires together to the box also. IF THIS IS WITHIN 6 FEET OF A WATER SOURCE, IN A BASEMENT, GARAGE, OR OUTSIDE IT HAS TO BE GFI PROTECTED!!!!

Answer for USA, Canada and countries running a 60 Hz supply service.By asking this question you are probably not quite ready to take on this particular task. The correct answer to your question will depend on the exact location of the light fixture. If your bathroom light fixture has an outlet in it you will need to make sure that the entire bathroom's electrical circuits are protected by a GFCI circuit breaker. Many homes built before the 1980s have bathrooms which are not protected by a GFCI because the wiring code applicable back then did not require it.If the old light has a built-in outlet you will not need to cap the outlet because it will be removed along with the lighting fixture. As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed. Before you do any work yourself,on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances, always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.
