Yes, but there aren't a lot left. Runic is one of the dying languages, just like Latin and Ancient Greek. I for one can read and write runes.
im guessing mostly people buy the 4 basic elemental runes which is air, fire, earth, and body, but high lvl players tend to buy more of the diffrent kinds of runes like the other which are chaos, nature, and law. sorry if i forgot any. For members (p2p) there are more complex types of runes such as astral or blood runes. they use them for special attack spells, and i think they also use it for alchemy.
the code for law runes plus other runes is: law runes: ::pickup 0563 999999999 nature runes: ::pickup 0561 999999999 fire runes: ::pickup 0554 999999999 water runes: ::pickup 0555 999999999 mind runes: ::pickup 0558 999999999 chaos runes: ::pickup 0562 999999999 air runes: ::pickup 0556 999999999 body runes: ::pickup 0559 999999999 death runes: ::pickup 0560 999999999 blood runes: ::pickup 0565 999999999 cosmic runes: ::pickup 0564 999999999 soul runes: ::pickup 0566 999999999 earth runes: ::pickup 0557 999999999 when you enter 999999999 at the end you get unlimited runes!!!! if you have any more questions add vamp0s =)
Runes were chiseled on stone. It is easier to chisel straight lines on stone than curved lines. I assume this is why runes, especially the earliest ones, are mostly comprised of straight lines.
In the Viking Age, runes were used mainly for two purposes: for writing and for magic. For example, ordinary people would use runes for inscribing names on personal objects, sending messages to each other or marking boundary or memorial stones. People with specialised knowledge occasionally inscribed runes with some magical purpose in mind, for example, to fortify a weapon or to effect healing. One of the gods frequently worshipped in the Viking Age, Odin, is credited as being the discoverer of runes and with describing their magical use. Another god, Heimdall, was credited in passing on this knowledge to humankind. There is no evidence that any people from the Viking Age ever used runes for divination. Despite marketing propaganda that implies the contrary, such use seems to be entirely a modern phenomenon and originates in the mid-late 20th century.
I am not going to take this from any text book answer, but rather from my own inner knowing. Yes, runes do exist. The runes have always existed, just look around in nature. Have a close look at a tree and it's branches, see the the way the little branches fork out like the runes. When I look at any given tree, I can usually see dozens of runes...Algiz, Teiwaz, Berkana, Sowelu, and others. That is part of the wisdom of the runes, the fact that they are all around, teaching us, we just have to be paying attention.

Answer: cures training on rats and Fist of guthix(free runes/f2p)?Answer: Fist of Guthix is free, but buying runes and doing magix ?is much quicker, if you can afford it. I personally prefer combat, and that is the only option at level 1, but at higher levels, there are other options, too, such as teleport, low alchemy, etc. (any spell you do will give you magic experience, except for the home teleport spell, which doesn't cost you runes). Be sure to get a staff to save runes; for example, at level 1, you need air runes and mind runes. A staff of air will save you the air runes, so you only need the mind runes.
No staff will really MAKE runes; however, some staffs will SAVE you the runes when you use the corresponding spell. Thus, by wielding a staff of fire, or one of the more advanced versions, you will need no fire runes for any spell (for instance, combat spell, or high alchemy) that normally requires them.
theres runes scape sherwood its awesome
It depends on how many runes are needed. For example: For Wind Wave, you will need Air Runes and Blood Runes. If you have any type of staff of Air, you will need 1 slot. All other spells will need at least 2 spots, 1 Air/Element rune (depending on the staff) and the combat rune (Mind, Chaos, Death, and Blood). The only exception is Water spells, as a Tome of Frost can be used from dungeoneering, combined with an air staff and you will only need the combat rune. For Ancients, You will need space for water runes, air runes, fire runes, soul runes, blood runes, death runes, and maybe chaos runes if you are level 50-72. The ancient staff is recommended or better (best is Staff of Light) Another note would be if you only cast 1 type of spell, you only need 3-4 spaces (4 for Smoke, 3 for Shadow, Blood, and Ice). Note you may also consider law runes to Teleport, or teletabs (teleports are recommended as you will already have runes) Cosmic runes will be needed with normal spellbook if you plan to alch items. Again on normal, if you plan to bind/weaken enemies you will need nature/body runes. On Lunar or High Level Normal, you will need Astral Runes likely. At higher levels, it is NOT recommended to use a staff of an element, excluding the Tome of Frost (As this is an off hand item)
