On a wired controller everything is transferred threw the usb wire. This why you must always make sure that there is not any damage to the cord or else the controls might not work or seem "sluggish". On a wired controller all the power is threw the cord, which again can be disrupted by any damage to the cord itself.

As far I know the Xbox 360 Controller will not work with Regular Xbox. Here are my reasons why i believe it to be true: 1. Xbox 360 Controller is Wireless which has to connect to Xbox 360 by pressing the "Xbox Guide" button. 2. Xbox 360 Console connects to the controller by pressing the "release the connect" 3. Regular Xbox does not have this feature and will not be able to recognize the controller. 4. I am not sure if wired xbox 360 controller will work, but i don't think so because of different capabilities software and older xbox console will not recognize it. 5. Any new controller will work fine on any shooting games. If you are having problems, you have a faulty controller and therefore you'll need to send it back and exchange for another.
