"During the early 1900s the word 'toastmaster' referred to a person who proposed the toasts and introduced the speakers at a banquet. Toastmasters is a nonprofit organization that operates clubs worldwide. These clubs help people improve their communication and leadership skills. Toastmasters currently has 13,500 clubs in over 116 countries, so finding a club to join shouldn't be a problem.
Firstly, you should find a club. Many advertise in local newspapers, but you can also look at the Toastmasters International website, http://www.toastmasters.org, and use the "Find a location near you" search engine, currently at http://reports.toastmasters.org/findaclub Once you have found a club, you are welcome to get in touch with the club contact provided, and arrange to visit the club. Feel free to try a few clubs before deciding which to join. The Vice President Membership at the club, or someone else in the Club Executive will explain to you the costs, and help you complete a form that will register you with their club, and Toastmasters International. Being a non-profit service organisation, costs are very low, and you are certain to benefit in many ways, as you develop your Communication and Leadership skills with the organisation.
There are many Toastmasters clubs in Southern California. Y
Toastmasters are not required to make known their religious faith, and the Mormon Church doesn't keep track of which members are Toastmasters, so it would be nearly impossible to know how many Toastmasters are Mormons. Most Mormons are very busy with their religious and family obligations and don't have time to participate in organizations like Toastmasters, so there are probably very few Mormon Toastmasters.
Guest speakers can be found via various speakers' bureaus such as Keppler Speakers, Leading Authorities, Toastmasters International, and APB Speakers.
