I think the chronic cough makes your diaphragm press on your bladder causing you to feel like you might need to urinate. Which in turn makes you squeeze whatever muscle that helps you hold your urine in because you don't want to urinate in your pants and that can cause a UTI. I just came home from the ER and I had a sinus infection for almost 3 weeks and I just found out I have a severe UTI that lead to a Kidney Infection. But keep in mind I have a weakened immune system because I have Diabetes so my body can't fight off infection that good.
