Can being bulimic cause you not to have children?

Bulimia causes two things - weight loss and lack of nutrients. You will not fall pregnant if you are too skinny. It is natures ways of helping us out - only healthy women in the correct weight range will ovulate and fall pregnant. If you are too skinny or too fat you will not. Secondly if you are not eating, you are not getting the correct nutrients and this will also effect you. You need to be having a certain amount of folate iron zinc and calcium to produce a healthy egg or sperm. The other problem is that if you do fall pregnant, without the correct nutrients, you will miscarry.

I'm not sure exactly, but you lose a lot of nutrients with bulimia. and if you're bulimic, you know you don't feel healthy most of the time, if not all of the time. so i would make an educated guess to say it might not be as effected as female's, but it probably isn't doing you any good.

actually yes it can. it was surprising to me, but ive struggled with bulimia (purging) for about 6 years. Im a 19 yr old male, so obviously i cant get pregnant, but i went to a treatment center where we discussed long term effects of vomiting on the mind and body: ammenhoreia (loss or absence of monthly meunstral cycle associated with malnutrition) makes pregnancy impossible, but this depends almost exclusively on the woman's body weight. after about 25% of her initial body weight is lost (i.e. a 130 pound girl/woman loses 30-35 pounds, now weighing 100 pounds or less), the body responds by stopping the meunstral cycle. although she still experiences PMS, the eggs are not being released because her body is unable to keep a baby alive due to low weiht, low body fat, low muscle, lack of vitamins and minerals, etc. the woman's body focuses solely on self preservation and employs any means necessary to preserve energy, one of which is stopping the meunstral cycle. HOWEVER, keep in mind that bulimics tend to be physically less obvious than anorexics (anorexics lose large amounts of body fat and muscle, therefore altering their appearance, whereas bulimics may be slightly underweight, slightly overweight normal, whatever, but the body chemistry of a bulimic is actually far more out of balance than an anorexic. low body weight alone does not prevent pregnancy; bulimia in and of itself can ruin your chances of getting pregnant. ever.

Not directly, as bulimia is binging and purging sufferers don't often lose weight , but if your the type of bulimic that puts on weight and looses it like a balloon then this may hinder your ability to conceive or may increase the chance of having complication early on in the pregnancy due to the pressure you body is put under to cope with the radically changing conditions. Also depending on how your purge your body may effect conception, Force full vomiting puts pressure on the abdominal cavity which may put conception at risk.

Yes, bulimia can cause infertility. You may lose your period if you have bulimia and never get it back. This would obviously cause you to become infertile.
