Smelling even a small amount of alchohol can lead to a chemical breakdown of cats nervous system.

We still don't know exactly why, but it has to do with the special way cats are wired to give them their good reflexes. JUST THE SMELL OF ALCHOHOL CAN CAUSE SIEZURES, AND IF NOT IMMEDIATELY, IT CAN CAUSE THEM UP TO 5 DAYS LATER
