You can use cefdinir for a tooth infection as it is a bacterial infection but it is what i would call over kill. We already have so many of antibiotic resistant bacteria out there and using this drug for a simple tooth infection could create another.
Besides wouldn't you rather cefdinir work for you when you really need a drug of its magnitude for example pneumonia or bronchitis.
Please save your cefdinir for something a bit more severe. Otherwise when you really need it to work because you are very sick then it wont work.
Our bodies develope tolerances to all kinds of meds.
Omnicef (cefdinir) is for strong infections.
I understand you're in pain and I am in a lot of tooth pain myself at the moment and cefdinir is all i have to take.
I will NOT take it though knowing that just like Zpacks (azithromycin) it will become less effective for me when I really need it.
For Instance...
When Zithromax (zpack, azithromycin) came out it was similar to omnicef in a sense because it was a very strong antibiotic that seemed to help with just about anything. Especially upper respiratory infections.
Over the years it was over prescribed for many things.
Now in patients that were commonly prescribed it for lesser infections the drug no longer works for the severe infections that it was created to fight in the first place.
Please do not assist in making this antibiotic useless against the things it was intended to help cure.
We are running out of good antibiotics like cefdinir to use in extreme illness cases.
I recommend eugenol (clove oil) for pain & also if ur tooth has a hole in it they sell this stuff called dentek temperin temporary filling. You can buy it in a kit at Walmart or your local pharmacy. The kit comes with eugenol and a putty that hardens into a temporary filling.
Typically dentists dont like this stuff because when you are in that kind of pain you should see a dentist but if you are desperate and in nerve pain from a hole in your tooth then you can brush your teeth in warm water then add eugenol and a ball of the filling putty.
In a few hours it hardens into a temporary filling and will subdue your pain until you can see your dentist.
If the tooth is infected then call ur doc or dentist and ask for them to call you in some antibiotics like amoxicillin or eurythromycin. Most drs or dentists dont mind calling these simple broad spectrum antibiotics in until you can get into their office and get your tooth fixed or extracted.
I hope that this was helpful to you and I pray that you are out of pain soon. God Bless
antibiotics doesent remove facial swelling. You mustuse an antiinflamatory medicament such us paractomol or voltaren.Antibiotics are used to treat only the infection and not the swelling
The question is unnecessarily convoluted. Cefixime is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections, including otitis media, an infection of the ear. It is effective in treating this condition.

A tooth extraction can get an infection. A dentist or doctor will have to prescribe antibiotics to help clear the infection.
An abscess is basically an infection of the tooth. It usually begins at the root of the tooth, and is associated commonly with a cavity. So basically, one way to possibly get an abscessed tooth is to have a cavity with an infection.
I have heard a tooth infection can infect your brain if left untreated. But it is supposed to be very rare.
