Currently in the state of Utah, there is no specific age that children must reach in order to be left alone. It is recommended that children are not left alone until they are mature and knowledgeable about various safety issues.
It really depends on the intelligence of your child, but most children don't get left alone until they are about 11 or 12.
Not sure where you are, but in Missouri I was told the legal age is 12years old BUT they cannot be responsible for any other children.

You can leave responsible children alone for short periods of time, but not overnight. Children at the age of 12 can be left at home for short periods of time.
Make participation fun and enjoying. Introduce all the children to each other so none will feel alone or left out. Have other kids to invite them to participate.
