I'm 9, and I really want a boyfriend. I just don't have any contact with boys because I'm home-schooled. My mom would call me boy-crazy, but that's just the kind of thing girls don't want to hear. So,..... go right ahead.
The first answer is a good illustration of why "boyfriends" and "girlfriends" at age 9 are a bad, bad, bad idea. At age 9 kids can play at being astronauts, gorillas, trees, or boyfriends and girlfriends but they are incapable of actually being any of those things since they lack the prerequisite properties. At age 9 they have only miniscule comprehension of the consequences of their actions have for others. Certainly they have no real understanding of the consequences of sexual relations. A few girls might have started puberty, but they are years and years removed from being able to understand and plan for taking responsibility for a baby. It will be years before they are expected to grasp the depth of sacrifice necessary to form a stable, mutually beneficial relationship with the opposite sex. A desire by a 9 year old girl to have a boyfriend is at best an immature "crush" and at worst a manifestation of a desire to act far older than she is without having the first clue what it really entails.

The legal age for consensual relationships is usually 16 in most countries. In some countries it's 15, in others it's 18.
An eight year old does not understand the concept of love in terms of boyfriend/girlfriend. It is not the same as loving parents or siblings.
You should wait until your teenage years.

i think children should be able to do whatever they want and if there parents do not have a relationship with them and the child has tried reaching out but nothing i believe that children can get emancipated if they have a place to live besides the streets and have a way of getting schooling and shelter and clothing, and food.
