There is nothing in the FMCSR which addresses the issue, contrary to popular belief. However, no company is going to allow their drivers to carry guns. Additionally, there would be many complications for a truck driver who wished to - US trucks might cross into Canada, where they wouldn't be permitted to bring their guns. Gun laws vary from state to state, and a gun which is legal in North Carolina may not be legal in California. And, of course, most customers prohibit firearms on their property.
