Cop gave me a warning. Honestly I did not realize one of my headlights was not working.
most cops wont pull you over for just 5mph over, or they would just give you a warning
Yes. He can't do it while you are driving.
yes.
No, because when you buy a car you should turn the lights on to be sure they all work. Lack of due diligence on your part is not their fault. Also consider: fixing a Saab headlight costs less than 20 dollars--just change the bulb, and they sell them at all auto parts stores, Walmarts and Targets in America. Even if you got a traffic ticket for having a burned-out headlight (and most cops will give you a warning ticket for this--fix the headlight, show it to a cop and you'll be clear) you won't recover enough from the dealership to pay off the costs of filing the suit.
Not if you can clearly see the lights on the tow vehicle; problem is most cops do not know this and will give you a ticket.
Yes. No - its a jerky thing to do, but you should not be speeding if there arent any cops around - so they CAN ticket you if you were speeding when you didnt see them.
Yes
The warning was on the speed limit sign you blew by. There is no requirement for the officer to let you off on your first ticket.
Yes, the police technically could wait until you are driving in order to give you a ticket when your license is expired. Hopefully the police would warn you that your license was expired rather than immediately ticketing you.
The person who owns the car will get the ticket, but I would think - if that person knew you were the one driving the car - that he or she would give you the ticket. Or, maybe, if that person is nice, he or she will just pay the ticket and hate you for a little while.
That's a field sobriety test. The cops give those to people they think are driving while intoxicated.
Most locations have a law against bad driving. It's not exactly called that... it may be legally referred to as "careless and imprudent", for example... but it basically means that a police officer can give you a ticket for almost literally anything the officer considers to be bad driving. You may be able to contest the ticket, in which case you're taking your chances that a judge and/or a jury will agree with you and not with the police officer, but in short: yes, a police officer can give you a ticket for not passing a semi.
