Taking Honey in low quantity (1 - 2 tablespoons) generally has a positive effect when you have diarrhea related to food or mild infections. Taking honey in large quantities generally cause mild to severe constipation.
One sure shot bottom-plug that my Mom used to give was this: Heat a whole Nutmeg over the flames for about 1 minute. Crack open the nut and powder the flesh. Mix some of it (2 to 4 pinches depending on the person/severity) and mix it in a spoonful of Honey. It also used to work for the sudden tummy ache in the middle of the night.
