Taking Honey in low quantity (1 - 2 tablespoons) generally has a positive effect when you have diarrhea related to food or mild infections. Taking honey in large quantities generally cause mild to severe constipation.

One sure shot bottom-plug that my Mom used to give was this: Heat a whole Nutmeg over the flames for about 1 minute. Crack open the nut and powder the flesh. Mix some of it (2 to 4 pinches depending on the person/severity) and mix it in a spoonful of Honey. It also used to work for the sudden tummy ache in the middle of the night.

If you don't have whole nutmeg, you can use the Nutmeg powder heated over the flame.

Please get medical help if your diarrhea lasts for more than 8 hours or if you feel weak. Remember to drink a lot of water.
