You're probably thinking of Toxocara Canis, the common roundworm of the dog. Toxocara eggs are present in the faeces of dogs which have not been treated with the appropriate medication. Total blindness from Toxocara infection is exceptional. It is rare even for the sight of one eye to be totally lost, though vision can be impaired.

∙ 9y agoThe eyeworm, or Thelazia californiensis, can infest dogs and other mammals. Although not common, they can cause a disease known as thelaziasis. The eyeworm lives in the tear ducts between the eye and the lids. Though they generally do not cause disease, they can be annoying and cause other symptoms such as burning, itching, and conjunctivitis. An eyeworm infestation may be removed after applying a topical anesthetic to the eye or killed by subcutaneous injections of the medication ivermectin.
